"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" Exception When Copying and Pasting a Folder on the "Open Map" Page (Doc ID 577761.1)

Symptoms

Copying and pasting a folder on the "Open Map" page fails with the following exception:

Exception
MergeLocalOrgMapToMaster: Object reference not set to an instance of anobject.
at SoxNav.OrgMapManager.MergeLocalOrgMapToMaster(String strLocalXML, String strCulName)
at SoxNav.Migrated_Map.pSaveMap_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)

 

The following steps will reproduce this error:
1. Open the Organizational Map.
2. Click Edit.
3. Select a node of the map and click Copy Folder (this has to be a node that has children folders).
4. Select a different node of the map and click Paste Folder.
5. Click Save.
6. Click Save and Check In.
7. You get the exception shown above:

Note that this only happens if the folder you are copying has children of its own.
