Goal

This article will discuss how to configure the possible symbology states for a switch class device.

The scope of this document will only focus on configuring symbology for switchable devices – symbology for conductors and static devices will not be addressed.

Solution
 1. Identify the symb_state_class for the device
 2. Identify which Switch States are applicable to the device
 3. Create a symbol for each possible state/status the device may hold
 4. Identify which symbol_ids will be matched with each Switch State
 5. Update the $NMS_CONFIG/sql/<project>_ssm.sql file to include entries for the new device
 6. Apply the <project>_ssm.sql file to the system
