Symptoms

11.5.10
in Production and Test

PROBLEM
ASCP is suggesting to reschedule a WIP job in when there is actually sufficient supply on hand.
The job should get a cancel exception instead.

Case:
Demand is 120
Supply is Discrete job 1 = 120
Discrete job 2 = 28
Discrete job 3 = 28
Discrete job 4 = 28

We expect a cancellation of Discrete jobs 2,3, and 4. Instead, the program is canceling job 3 and
4 but rescheduling job 2.

When we re-ran the plan, we noticed that only 1 of the jobs were canceled and now we have 56 excess.

STEPS
1. Create a Sales order for 120
2. Create four WIP jobs, one for 120, and three jobs for 28
3. Run Collections and ASCP
4. Notice that ASCP suggests to cancel WIP jobs 3 and 4 only and reschedules WIP job 2.

BUSINESS IMPACT
This patch is critical to bringing on new business units to Oracle and is now on hold - we cannot
proceed with implementation of these new units if we are going to create 100's K+ in excess
inventory.
