Exponential Value Stored In PC_INVESTIGATIONS.INVESTIGATION_OF_DEFECT_NBR Field (Doc ID 753876.1)

Last updated on MAY 28, 2009

Applies to:

Adverse Event Reporting System - Version: 4.5.1
This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms

Unexpected exponential value stored in pc_investigations.investigation_of_defect_nbr field.

Usual values for this field are 1,2,3 referring to the respective defect id.

However for a few 4.5.1 cases some odd values have been stored e.g.

-4.91821325345E+29 and
-4.41832215345E+25

These values in themselves do not cause an issue in AERS 4.5.1, however would be a data integrity issue for the upgrade from AERS 4.5.1 to AERS 4.6.1.

In AERS 4.6.1, this is a number field with a limit of 10 digits long, but in AERS 4.5.1
it was a number field with no limit.

So these long valued rows in the PC_INVESTIGATIONS and PA_INVESTIGATIONS
table will not import correctly.

Able to manually update this field, but audit history retains historical
