TMS 4.6 client session fails to launch: JVM.DLL error (Doc ID 753965.1)

TMS upgraded from 4.5.2 to 4.6.

Now, the TMS 4.6 launch page provided with the software installation won't start and hangs.. and client sees a pop-up IE window with text:

'Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close...' Click here for more information.

The second information window from IE then shows:
