Cannot Update Notes Block On Asset Form (Doc ID 755236.1)

Last updated on MARCH 12, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Utilities Work and Asset Management - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.

You should be give Users the ability to create Notes and save them without
giving them full write access to the Asset module by setting up the Notes
Block to have full privileges (D,S,I,U,D) and the other Blocks with only
Display and Select privileges in the Responsibility Module for the Asset
Form. However, when this is done, you receive the message 'You cannot update
this record' in the Notes View when you attempt to add or update a note.
This seems to occur if the Header block does not have Insert and Update

Steps to Reproduce

In the Responsibility for the Asset Module, in BLOCKS, set up the NOTES
Block with full privileges and the other Blocks (including the Header)
with only Display and Select privileges.
Pull up an Asset.
Attempt to add or update a Note in the Notes View
Error 'You cannot update this record' - even though the change is saved
