Error response from device can be ignored by global success message

This problem can occur on any platform.
Error responses from a device did not seem to be getting caught by the customers SDK built cartridge, even though the responses were seen in the logs.
The customer had a custom built base cartridge and the prechecks were executed after the device login was executed.
