Why is SQL Client Version 9.2.0.8 Required In The AERS 4.5.2 Installation? (Doc ID 845693.1)

Last updated on JULY 20, 2009

Applies to:

Adverse Event Reporting System - Version: 4.5.2
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Installing AERS 4.5.2 on a OC 4.5.3 middle tier server.

According to the document: OLSA Supported Technology Stacks (<<Note180430.1>>)
The client version on the middle tier should be the same as the database version, which is in our
case is 9.2.0.8.

During the AERS Database installation the AERS Installation Guide says that we should select the
iSuites home (where the client is version 8.1.7.0.0)

When the installation starts we can see that it uses sqlplus.exe from the iSuites home and not the
ORA92 home where we have installed the new client in.

So when and how do we use the 9.2.0.8 client?

We assume that the reason for compatibility between the client and the database is because of
running of the installation sql-scripts and the import utility. Is that right?
