Adding More than 99 Characteristics Generates Error (Doc ID 873992.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 24, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Public Sector Revenue Management - Version 2.1.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

When adding characteristics through the base Case page the next SEQ_NUM is always determined by taking the current max SEQ_NUM and adding 10. If you continue to add characteristics to the point where you have a SEQ_NUM of 990 every subsequent characteristic will get a SEQ_NUM of  " ".

When you attempt to save a system error will be received. This will happen regardless of the number of Characteristics as long as the maximum sequence number that exists is 990. So if you add enough to get to a SEQ_NUM of 990 and then delete all the characteristics except the one that has SEQ_NUM 990 you will still be unable to add new characteristics. It was also observed that the SEQ_NUM does not move in even increments. After adding a large amount of characteristics the max SEQ_NUM was 500. After the next characteristic was added the SEQ_NUM was pushed to 650 making for a loss of roughly 13 potential characteristics.

This means that only 99 characteristics can be added.
