CCB V2.2.0 Control Central Name Search by Chinese/Japanese Chars Does Not Work in Tomcat (Doc ID 883412.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 18, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing - Version: 2.2.0.0 to 2.2.0.0 - Release: 2.2 to 2.2
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Although CC&B 2.2.0 can successfully store and retrieve multi-byte language data (to/from a UTF8 DB) the name searching from Control Central returns no results.

When the Tomcat Log is interrogated it shows that the Chinese/Japanese characters have been converted to an unintelligible string prior to being used within the SQL statement.

This issue affects Tomcat only - other web servers do not have the same problem.

The following steps will reproduce the problem:
1. Create a Person With a Chinese or Japanese Character Name (eg 伊藤,太郎) and note Person ID and Name
2. Navigate to Control Central Search for the Name 伊藤 [No Records found]
3. Searching by Person ID will display the Person with the correct name
