Goal

This document explains how to import EPS level activity code assignments from an XER file.

When importing EPS-level Activity Codes, the Activity Code must already exist in the EPS node you are importing into as well as be assigned to an activity, or any higher EPS nodes in its hierarchical branch.  This includes its parent nodes and the parents of its parent node etc... going all the way up to its respective root EPS node.

Examples:

For all the following examples, please refer to the screenshots below them.

Case 1:  If you import a project with an EPS activity code called Act 1 into EPS level 1, the activity codes will import.  This is because, an activity code called Act 1 exists within that EPS node.

Case 2:  If you import a project with an EPS activity code called Act 1 into EPS level 1.1, it will still import.  That's because it's parent EPS node contains an EPS activity code called Act 1.

Case 3:  If you import a project with an EPS activity code called Act 1.1 into EPS level 1, the code will not import.  Although, there is an EPS activity code called Act 1.1 in this database, that code exists in EPS level 1.1, which is a child of EPS level 1, not a parent.  The activity code with the name Act 1.1, must exist in the EPS node you are importing into, or higher up on it's hierarchical branch.

Case 4:  If you import a project with an EPS activity code called Act 1 into EPS level 2, or EPS level 2.1, the code will not import.  That's because neither of those EPS nodes have parent EPS nodes that contain an activity code with the name Act 1.  You may notice that there is an EPS activity code called Act 1 under EPS level 1.  However, EPS level 1 is neither a parent, nor even on the same hierarchical branch as EPS level 2 or EPS level 2.1.  So this code will not import.
