Considerations Using P6 Client Applications (Client/Server Setup) Over A Wide Area Network (WAN) Connection (Doc ID 909179.1)

Last updated on JUNE 07, 2021

Applies to:

Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management - Version 5.0 and later
Primavera P6 Professional Project Management - Version 5.0 and later
All Platforms

Purpose

Network connections across a WAN (Wide Area Network) are often characterized by higher latency and lower bandwidth than Local Area Network (LAN) connections. Connecting a P6 Professional client application (Project Management) directly across the WAN to its database (client/server setup) can reduce performance of any operation and is not a recommended architecture by Oracle | Primavera.

This bulletin outlines alternative architecture solutions using the P6 Professional client applications over a WAN.

Scope

This bulletin is intended for Primavera Administrator's implementing P6 Professional Client Application(s) over WAN connection.
