Does Payment Tool Support Custom Error Messages? (Doc ID 974584.1)

Goal

When there is a payment or payment reversal error, the payment tool neither allows to display a custom error message in the popup window nor in the status bar. A generic error message is displayed in the popup window and in the status bar.

Would it be possible to provide a way to hook in the custom error message, so that it can be displayed in the popup and status bar?
