Goal
Oracle XDB contains a multitude of proprietary XML functions that can and should be replaced with newly introduced XQuery standard functions. We list the replaced functions in table XREF TO TABLE.
We strongly encourage customers to use these new functions following the XQuery standard. Although still supported there will be no enhancements in the future for the old and replaced functions.
Please be aware of the semantic differences between XPath 1.0 used in the old functions and XQuery 1.0 used in the new functions. We will illustrate some differences at the end of this section XREF.
