Volume Pricing rules are an out of-the-box type of pricing rule that allows administrators to create promotional pricing rules which offer a discount that increases as the quantity purchased increases. The volume pricing structure can be displayed to the sales users in configuration to encourage them to sell greater volumes.

When creating volume pricing rules, you create a separate rule for each range you want to discount. A sample volume pricing scenario is given below:

Quantity Range

Discount %

1 – 10

11 – 20

21 – 30

31 – 1,000

This scenario requires four Pricing Rules, one for each grouping. If the customer purchases 25 units, all 25 units receive a 30% discount.

For each pricing rule you must choose between three different discount types.

Discount Type

Discounts the list price of the product by a percentage. This is the only type of supported discount for multicurrency organizations.

Discounts the list price of the product by a fixed currency amount.

Discards the list price of the product and replaces it with a currency amount.
