Goal

Maintenance Product Pricing rules are an out of-the-box type of pricing rule that allows administrators to create relationships between products ensuring that anytime one or more specified products are added to a quote a maintenance product is also added automatically and priced proportionally.  This is a useful tool to make certain fees like maintenance charges, premium support, extended warranties or shipping charges are added to a quote and priced accurately.

Maintenance product pricing rules allow administrators to automatically price a maintenance product as a proportion of the total price of all its related products. When creating maintenance rules you create a separate rule for each product whose price will contribute to the maintenance fee.

Each rule specifies a base product and a maintenance product. When the base product is added to a quote it triggers the maintenance product rule which automatically adds the maintenance product.

For each pricing rule you must choose the Base Price Source.

Base Price Source

Description

List Price

Uses the list price of the base product multiplied by the quantity when it calculates the price of the maintenance product as a percent of base.

Sales Price

Uses the sales price of the base product multiplied by the quantity when it calculates the price of the maintenance product as a percent of base.

For each pricing rule you must choose the Fee Type.

Fee Type

Description

Percent of Base

Sets the price of the maintenance product as a percentage of the list price or sales price of the base product. Use this type for organizations with multicurrency.

Fixed Fee

Sets the price of the maintenance product as a fixed fee.

If there are multiple Maintenance Product Pricing rules which use the same maintenance product and different base products, the maintenance product is priced using the sum of all the fees from each active product rule. Only one of each maintenance product will be added to the quote.
