Fusion Applications BI Publisher: SQL-based Data Model does not respect standard date formatting (Doc ID 1643084.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 21, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Application Toolkit - Version 11.1.7.0.0 and later
Oracle Fusion Application Toolkit Cloud Service - Version 11.1.8.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When building a SQL-based data model within BI Publisher in a Fusion Applications environment the expectation is that the data set will be based upon one of the three ApplicationDB_xxx datasources.

If the constructed SQL includes a data formatting command such as that shown below the returned date may not be returned in the expected format :

The expectation with the above formatting is that the MONTH_OF_BIRTH would return a Month in the format 'JAN/FEB/MAR/APR' but in fact a numeric Month is returned, for example '01/02/03/04'.
