Middleware is 3rd party software that is used to receive, process, and send data between multiple systems.

There are two ways we can send data to the middleware, through BML using urldatabypost() or through a Transition Notification using the send XML option. Urldatabypost() calls must be debugged in the BML editor to confirm if we are sending data out. If we are connecting correctly, we will receive response XML, otherwise, we will receive the default value. To test the send XML option, we can either test the connection on the real-time integration page, or we can see the response when we send the integration XML to the middleware. Using send integration XML we will see the exact response the middleware gives us, including any errors that are thrown.
