We're proud to announce that we are changing the name of the existing Oracle Java Cloud Service to Oracle Java Cloud Service - SaaS Extension. The new identity reflects the maturity and diversity of the existing Java Cloud Service ecosystem.

JCS-SaaS Extension is a product designed for extremely simple and fast Java application development with unique capabilities that enable customers to bring add-ons and extensions to the Oracle SaaS application portfolio. These range from security and API integration to direct support of the ADF development model that is the recommended model for adding value to the SaaS applications. This is complemented by the fact that many of these extensions to SaaS applications don't need the full use of the underlying WebLogic container as the extensions are domain specific to applications versus leveraging the more deep level features of WebLogic Server.

In the coming months, Oracle will release a new version of Oracle Java Cloud Service. The new offering will include many new features and functionality that are significantly different from the existing Oracle Java Cloud Service.

We're reaching out to you as we prepare for this name change. This change is not going to affect your running Oracle Java Cloud Service environments. The impact of this change is minimal and limited to the purchasing and support processes.

Impact on Purchasing Process

There will be no change in the purchasing process. However, all of the existing Oracle Java Cloud Service offerings will be renamed as follows:

Impact on Support Process

Currently, when you create a new service request (SR) via My Oracle Support (MOS), you can specify an Oracle Java Cloud Service offering. The names of Oracle Java Cloud service offerings are changing in MOS as well.

In addition, Oracle is taking this opportunity to streamline the support experience by merging the product listings in MOS for the Oracle Java Cloud Service (e.g. Oracle Java Cloud Service, Oracle Java Cloud Service - S2 and Oracle Java Cloud Service - S4) with the new Oracle Java Cloud Service - SaaS Extension support product.
