Fusion Global HR: No Email Notification Generated When A Custom Message Is Added To The Notification (Doc ID 1954891.1)

Symptoms

In 'Change Manager' action workflow, a custom message has been added to the notification. When a Change Manager transaction is processed, no email notification is received.  In the server logs, the following can be seen:

ORABPEL-09500
XPath expression failed to execute.
An error occurs while processing the XPath expression; the expression is Please approve this manager change request only upon Performance feedback
knowledge sharing by the previous manager.

If no message is added to the notification, the approval email is generated.


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Navigate to Set up and Maintenance-> Task configurations for Human Capital Management > Search for the ChangeManagerApproval task
2. Edit the task notification to add a custom message, and commit the change to the database.
3. Log in as a user > Person Management > Search for person > Change Manager.
4. Submit the manager change. Observe that no email notification is generated.
