Outlook STS Authentication Failing With Authentication Failed: User Joe Bloggs Denied (Doc ID 1955742.1)

Symptoms

On : 11.1.9.0.0 version, Authentication, Authorization & Single Sign-on

When attempting to login to Sales Cloud for Outlook using ADFS STS 2.0 authentication, the following error occurs.,


ERROR

Failed to login using given user info. Please re-enter your user info and try again.

The GeneralLog (log.0000.txt) shows

The OrderCaptureServer_1-diagnostic.log log shows error
Caused by: javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: [Security:090304]Authentication Failed: User Joe Bloggs javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: [Security:090302]Authentication Failed: User Joe Bloggs denied

or

Caused by: oracle.wsm.security.SecurityException: WSM-00008 : Web service authentication failed.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Configure Outlook STS Authentication
2. Install Sales Cloud for Outlook using STS authentication mode
3. Attempt to login
