Opportunity Error - Cannot View Lists In Simplified UI / FUSE UI

Instance was upgraded from Sales Cloud Release 8 to Release 9 and is now seeing the error message "Attribute Closed Date is Required" when click on Opportunity button in Simplified UI.
There are custom lists. After this error none of the built in lists produce data but the custom lists still do.
As a work around, the custom lists could be made as default. This error will occur if user changes the list to a built in list either Open Opportunities or Opportunities where logged in user is on the Team
