Fusion Benefits: Benefits Contact Relationship Change Is Not Updated after Erroneous Entry Is Corrected (Doc ID 1992363.1)

While updating a child contact for benefits the Relationship was inadvertently saved as Parent instead of Child.
Immediately after realizing the mistake the Relationship was corrected to Child.

When the plan option for 'Children' is selected, the Child contact appears in Beneficiaries section but the Relationship is still displayed as Parent.
Why is this happening? How is this corrected?
