Optional Maintenance Pricing rules are an out of-the-box type of pricing rule that allows administrators to create relationships between products ensuring that anytime one or more specified products are added to a quote along with a maintenance product it is priced proportionally. This is a useful tool to make certain optional fees like maintenance charges, premium support, extended warranties or shipping charges are priced accurately.
Optional Maintenance pricing rules allow administrators to automatically price a maintenance product as a proportion of the total price of all its related products. When creating maintenance rules you create a separate rule for each product whose price will contribute to the maintenance fee.
Each rule specifies a base product and a maintenance product. When the base product and the maintenance product are both added to the same quote the price of the maintenance product is set.
