R9 Upgrade - Interactions Custom Field Data Not Migrated Into Activities (Doc ID 2003721.1)

As part the manual task to complete the R9 Upgrade process that can be found in doc 1938115.1, the customer completed all the instructions from the Doc "Activities Upgrade Guide Release 9".
After completion of the Step 4: "Upgrade Data" (This step moves data from the old tables into the new Activity Tables.), the customer expected to get existing data on custom columns (from Interaction Object) reflected on their corresponding new columns added to the Activity Object.
The customizations (from Step 1) were successfully extended into Activities, but the same cannot be told about the data being migrated.
