Task Notification Blank For ProjectStatusNotificationApproval

Notifications are displayed in the task list and from the "bell" icon, however when selected no data is displayed. Task notification for ProjectStatusNotificationApproval is showing as 'blank'. This problem is occurring on multiple browsers and with any variation on the rule (users have returned rule to most basic approval group only and still this issue is occurring). Not all workflows are encountering this error . For example, procurement workflow is not encountering this problem.
Administrators have a specific user who should approve Project Status changes generated by workflow "ProjectStatusNotificationApproval (220.127.116.11.0)". This user only has the project role of Project Team Member. This user had inadvertently been assigned the Project Management Duty role which was removed because this is not an appropriate role for someone who is approving Project Status changes. Now that the Project Management Duty role has been removed the user is no longer able to view the detail on the worklist notifications related to this task.
What role should be assigned for the user to approve these notifications since the Project Management Duty is not appropriate for this individual?
