OpenVMS: List of Patches for Oracle 11.2.0.4.0 on hp OpenVMS Itanium (Doc ID 2034951.1)

Purpose

This document is intended to provide a list of known patches for Oracle on HP OpenVMS Itanium 11.2.0.4.0.

NOTE: The patches in this note apply to 11.2.0.4.0 and may apply to later PSUs

Selecting the patch number together with HP OpenVMS Itanium in the 'Patches and Updates' area, will show which version the given patch can be applied to.

If the patch shows 11.2.0.4.0, it may or may not clash with a current PSU.

If there is a conflict message upon patch install, a Service Request should be opened with Oracle Support.

Scope

What is Oracle OpenVMS 11.2.0.4.0?
----------------------------------------------

11.2.0.4.0 is the first Oracle 11gR2 release on OpenVMS Itanium.

When available, Patchsets can be downloaded from My Oracle Support (MOS) from the "Patches & Updates" area.

In the "Patching Quick Links" section, under "Oracle Server and Tools", select the "Latest Patchsets" link.

This will open a new window from which you can browse for and download patchsets.

Where to find patches
---------------------

All patches for 11.2.0.4.0 can be found on MOS.

Click the "Patches & Updates" tab above
Under "Patch Search" click "Product or Family (Advanced)"
Select Product is "Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition"
Select Release is "Oracle 11.2.0.4.0"
and Platform is "HP OpenVMS Itanium"
Click the [Search] button
Sort by "Platform (Language)" on the frame title bar so that OpenVMS patches appear at the top of the list

If you are unable to locate a particular patch using the above method, please file a Support Request with
Oracle Worldwide Support.

Your are strongly advised to install patches ONLY under the guidance of Oracle Worldwide Support after an
Oracle Support Engineer has verified your problem and has advised application of a specific patch.

 

Please ensure that you are using a current version of UNZIP. Older versions of Unzip may corrupt patch contents.

Required reading:

A one-off or interim patch may conflict with another one-off or interim patch.

For that reason, it is not advisable to install any one-off patches unless you are experiencing the specific problem they fix.

For our interim patch policy, please see <Note 209768.1>

One-off or interim patches do not have to be installed in chronological order.

What is essential though is to NOT install patches that conflict. Conflicting patches have one or more modules in common, but contain different fixes.

The patch install script provided with Oracle interim patches will automatically check for conflicting patches and report any conflicts to your screen.

If there is a conflict message upon patch install, a Service Request should be opened with Oracle Support.
