The purpose of this document is to show how to make a single picklist field on a form populate with a blank value by default. This is useful when the contact submitting the form does not select a specific value. Without a blank value, if a contact does not make a selection, the first entry in the picklist will be used, even if it is not correct. This can be a factor in creating poor quality data.
In the example below, if a contact did not make a selection for the Country Codes single picklist field, Eloqua would update with the first entry (US/United States), even if the contact was from Australia. This could lead to incorrectly marketing to this client.
