Cannot Populate Related Custom Object Info From Lead To Opportunity (Doc ID 2061951.1)

On : version, Leads, Sales Campaigns

There is a custom object in Common called Equipment. This object has a M:M relationship with Leads and Opportunities.
When we create a Lead, we can select multiple Equipments.
Then when we converting into opportunity, my customer would like to automatically populate the selected Equipments in Lead to the Opportunity.

Cannot convert

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
A) Create a Child Object for Lead. Add a couple of Custom fields to it.
B) Create a Child Object for Opportunity. Add same custom fields to it as in
C) On Lead Pages->SUI, Add a Subtab for the object created in A)
D) On Opportunity Pages->SUI, Add a Subtab for the object created in B)
E) Edit an existing Copy map which is already setup for the Lead to add a new
Entity Map.
F) For this Entity Map, add Attribute Mapping.

These Steps to be performed on SUI
G) Create a new Lead
H) Add values to the custom object on the Lead
I) Convert the Lead to Opportunity
J) Check the custom object on Opportunity it is not passed

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot convert leads to opportunity for some customer object (including those having a M:M relationship with pareent standard object (Lead - Opportunity)
