Groovy script does not get triggered (Doc ID 2072602.1)

Goal

There is a trigger on Account Update that validates the child record of account called email. However when opening an account and changing the email the trigger is not run at all.
Basically the Groovy script does not get triggered when Email or Phone are being changed.
How to make the trigger run when a child OOB record from Account is updated?
