Custom Object Team Users Disappearing When Same Users Added To Different Record (Doc ID 2076160.1)

Symptoms

Customer has a Custom objects "Project" under common application area.

When the customer adds the same users to two different project records, the team details disappear from the first record.

Steps to reproduce
1. Open a project record
2. In the subtab, team members add two users
3. Save and Close

Now navigate to a another record in project Object
4. Add the same users to the team subtab
5. Save and Close

6. Open the project record in step1 above
7. click on the subtab team and find users disappear

This is not happening to standard objects i.e Accounts Contacts or Opportunities.

Only records for Custom object are having this issue
