How do you prevent appointments from being included in the Outlook sync? (Doc ID 2081858.1)

Goal

Is it possible to not include appointments in the sync between OSC and Outlook at a global level? The client doesn't use the appointment feature in Sales Cloud, but if an appointment gets set up in outlook it still syncs.
