Should the Territory field modify in real time when it is triggered by the update of a Custom Field (DCL)?

The customer created a custom dimension for the Territory assignment called Client Type. Using a Groovy code the modification of this field (Fixed Choice List) triggers the classification of the Territory based on the Client Type value. The display value of the Territory does not modify until page is SAVED.
In order for the application to generate the custom Territory classification the Database needs to acknowledge the new dimension therefore user needs to SAVE the Client Type value before the Territory will change.
This behavior is different from the Owner > Team Members relationship (the display values update in real time without SAVE) because Owner is a standard field. However in order to keep the Owner/Team Members change the SAVE action is mandatory.
On the Account page: should the value of the Territory field modify in real time (without pressing Save) considering the fact that it is triggered by the modification of a Custom Field (DCL)?
