Stage Snapshot Gives Incorrect Data (Doc ID 2118212.1)

Customer is using Sales Stage snapshot history subject area to look at when exactly was an opportunity's sales stage changed and they are getting wrong dates back.
He tested an opportunity and seems like the snapshot is using Opportunity Name instead of Opportunity ID to capture snapshots.
So, if an opportunity was created on 1/21/16 for instance, and it has been sitting in Stage 1 since then and a rep goes in and changes the stage to Stage 2, in the snapshot it shows that opportunity has been in Stage 2 since 1/21/16 not when they actually changed the stage.
