Why does Employee Name Change Depending on Which Sales Pipeline Fact is Used?

I have problems in reports with Employee Name
I have a few reports selecting Employee Name for Opportunities, and a few do bit not seem to work well. For example, the Employee Name is "John Smith" but it should be "Jane Doe"
The Employee Name and the user who created the Opportunity are not the same.
Isn't the creator of an Opportunity the Employee Name?
How can I know when the Employee Name and creator is not the same?
How can I assign in OSC the Employee Name of an Opportunity?
