Activity: Appointment still in calendar after setting the status to "Cancelled" (Doc ID 2134926.1)

On : version, Activity Management

In Activity object, on the Edit Appointment layout, customer has added the "Status" field.
When an appointment is created, the information gets punched in the calendar.
However, when the "Status" is updated to "Cancelled", the data from the calendar is not getting erased.
Why is this happening?
