Archived messages start showing up in Inbox (Read or Unread)

A number of messages which had been archived start showing up Inbox all of a sudden

Once a message is archived it should remain in archived folder unless a new activity on the same thread is initiated by the user.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Go to Engage
2. Switch to Under section
3. Check the list of messages - there are quite a few which had been read but still show up here.
4. Open any of these messages & check the internal activity. The last activity is Archived & there is no response on the message from user after this.

The issue has the following business impact:
This creates a confusion for the users
