"Item cannot be modified" Error When Accepting Meetings in Outlook (Doc ID 2139995.1)

On : 11.1.10.0.0 version, Microsoft Outlook

Outlook Error When Accepting Meetings

When accepting meeting in Outlook, user is experiencing error "Item cannot be modified". A duplicate, not accepted appointment is created in Calendar folder. This issue is experienced by attendee user and it is specific to read-only appointments.

The appointment present in user's calendar will be read-only when it is already shared with Sales Cloud by the owner, but user is not the owner of this meeting.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create new unshared meeting as User1 (U1) and sends invite to User2 (U2)
  2. U2 opens this, share with Sales Cloud and press on [save and close]
  3. U2 sync all changes
  4. U2 opens this not accepted meeting and try to accept it

BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, attendee users of read only appointment cannot open and accept the meeting.
