When Setting Account On Contact Using Free Text The Account Is Not Set

Problem setting Account on Contact
I have opened a Contact. I type in a name of an Account into the Account field and save. No error. When I reload the data, the Account field is empty! When I pick the Account via magnifying glass everything is fine. Please advice.
