How to perform Direct Database Query? The Connection Pool is valid, but no data is returned (Doc ID 2162225.1)

Goal

Qn1:

I am attempting to build some BI reports via Direct Database Query to overcome some data structure limitations within OBIEE standard subject areas.
Do you have any documentation on how to find the Connection Pool and the database name for each subject area?
 


Qn2:

Another Sales Administrator user is still getting an error when trying to do a Direct Database Query.
To enable the Direct Database Query, does he or she need to do anything in BI Administration --> Manage Privileges?
 


Qn3:

Where can I find the name of direct database master table for different objects?
I know now I can pull Account/Contact/Owner information from hz_parties.
If I want to query information from opportunity/activity/etc, what are the tables for these objects?
Or is there a place I can find the direct database names?


Qn4:

Could you explain further the difference between logical SQL and direct SQL or physical SQL further?
For the "Issue SQL" area on the OBIEE "Administration," page, is it only able to check logical SQL and unable to run a direct database query?
