Contact 'Account' Relationship Not Updating

Contact 'Account' relationship not updating properly.
Our customers who are individuals are modeled in OSC as 'Contacts' or type 'Customer'. There are custom relationships set up to represent these customers relationship to the associated organisation entities
When the relationship is updated, though the link to the 'Account' remains the same, but results in mismatch in data and the account showing as incorrect.
Data in the account should show correctly.
Contact 'Account' relationship need to be updated properly
1. Log into Fusion Applications
2. Navigate to Accounts
3. Contacts of type Customer
4. Define custom relationships set up to represent these customers relationship to the associated organization entities
5. Update the relationship
