Error "System could not process your request" When Opening SOV Sheet From A Base Commit Cost Type Record; java.lang.NullPointerException Written to Log File (Doc ID 2184960.1)

Symptoms

On Unifier : Reported on version 9.9.14.0

When attempting to open the Schedule of Values (SOV) sheet from a Cost type Business Process (BP) record, the following error occurs.

ERROR
-----------------------
"The System could not process your request. Logging in again may help in some cases.
Contact your System Administrator if you are still having problems."

The following is found to be written to the Unifier log file:
.../sov/view/processing throws an exception at file:///sov/action.xml:320:
file:///sov/action.xml:320: java.lang.NullPointerException


STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the applicable Cost type BP workspace
  2. Open the record and click on the SOV button
  3. Notice the issue

 

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------

Because of this the users cannot open the SOV sheet from the BP record.
