Unable to Import Any Update From Excel (XLSX) Into P6 Professional and Log Shows "ERROR: Failed to Find a Matching Object for Activity" (Doc ID 2194297.1)

Symptoms

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM:
Unable to update Project data via Import Spreadsheet XLSX, and the log file shows the following error:

ERROR: Failed to find a matching object for Activity [for every Activity that was not modified in the file].

NOTE:

This also affects importing Activity Relationships and the log file will display the following error:

ERROR: TBOBasedDataManager.InsertNewObject: Cannot resolve foreign key for TASKPRED
ERROR: Failed to find a matching object for Activity Relationship

This also affects importing Resource Assignments and the log file will display the following error:

ERROR: TBOBasedDataManager.InsertNewObject: Cannot resolve foreign key for TASKRSRC

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Open sample Project and Export to XLSX.
  2. Open XLSX in Excel and change the Activity Name of a single Activity. Save & Close the file.
  3. Import the updated XLSX.
    1. The User Preferences used to create this Excel file are not the same as your current preferences. Importing this file could corrupt your data. Please refer to Help for more information about importing data from Excel. Are you sure that you want to continue.
    2. After clicking Finish/processing import file: Process did not complete successfully. See log file for details.
    3. In prm_xlsximport.log: ERROR: Failed to find a matching object for Activity [for every Activity that was not modified in the file].
    4. If you only import single row that was modified in the XLSX, import states completed successfully, but no changes were made.
