Notes Not Working In Custom Object As Subtab

Symptoms

On :  11.1.11.1.0 version, Sales, Sales Catalog

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR  
---------------
Notes not working in Custom object subtab  

Standard Notes object is added as  a subtab in Custom objects [e.g Event Plans]. On detail page of the custom object record the sub-tab is visible.
> Users are able to create and save Notes record [confirmation message is shown to the users]
> The Private checkbox is not checked [so Notes are NOT private]
> Once the Note is created the notes don't appear in list, are not visible even to the creator of the Notes.


EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Notes should be visible for the Event Plans the notes are created for

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Navigate to Event Plans custom object page
2. Create a note for a Event Plans and Save
3. After saving the Notes are not visible for that Event Plans record

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot use the Notes feature for the custom object Event Plan.
