Cannot Drill Down to Account Detail Page After Click on Account Name Link

Symptoms

When attempting to search for account names starting with STA, the following occurs...
  
  EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
  -----------------------
  The application should let the user click on account name link

  ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
  -----------------------
  Nothing happens when click on Account name link for the accounts starting with STA

  BUSINESS IMPACT
  ----------------------
  The customer cannot drill down into account detail pages , nor edit any account that starts with STA
  
  STEPS
  -----------------------
  By following these steps the issue can be reproduced:
1. Used sign in access for the user
2. Click on Accounts tab and go to All Account list
3. Pick up any account from the list and click on account name link
4. The page display OK
5. Now search for accounts starting with STA - there are some accounts
6. Pick any on those accounts starting with STA and nothing happens - the page is not going to the account detail page.
7. Edit link also not working - so nothing can be done with these accounts - there is no way to update/view these accounts
