Product Translation

Customer is trying to translate the Product description for multiple languages.
Whenever he creates new custom fields for Product entity, the item names its not getting translated.

1. Customer has translated names for his products in PIM
Ex: ARTISTE Upgrades11German (Deutsch)
  ARTISTE Upgrades11 (English)
  ARTISTE Upgrades11 (Japanese)
In PIM he sets the language to Deutsch
2. On Opportunity he has 2 fields: the OOTB field for Product ('Name') and a custom field 'Product in Vivo'.
3. When searching for the deutsch translation in Product Name he is finding the item, but when searching for the same in 'Product in Vivo' custom field he is not finding the translation but instead the English item name.

How to resolve this?
