Started Life Event to Close if Prior to Window Ending When New Life Event is Created (Doc ID 2234765.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 30, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Benefits Cloud Service - Version 11.1.11.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Requirement :  If a life event is in started status and the window period is not over yet and another life event is detected within the window period of the first life event, that the life event is in started status to be closed automatically.
For example, If an Employee has a Gain Dependent Life Event as of 1.1.17 with a 30 day window period and then the employee inserts a Beneficiary Update Life Event as of 6.1.17  and tries to process it, then the life event as of 1.1.17 should be automatically processed and the event as of 6.1.17 should be processed and the employees should be allowed to make elections for the same.

Issue : Currently when the employee clicks on Change Benefit Election after inserting the self assigned life event as of 6.1.17 the event as of 6.1.17 goes into manual status as the event as of 1.1.17 is still in started status and the window for the same is not over yet. Client wants this life event as of 1.1.17 to go to processed status and the life event as of 6.1.17 to come to started status when the Change Benefit Election button is clicked as of 6.1.17.

Analysis : As per the analysis there are 2 possible solutions for this,
 1. Admin closes the life event as of 1.1.17 manually and then the life event as of 6.1.17 is changed to unprocessed status manually by Admin and then the employee can process the life event as of 6.1.17.
  2. Set the Close Enrollment Rule for all the Life Event to "When Elections are Made" this will close the life event of 1.1.17 as soon as the employee makes the election and then the life event as of 6.1.17 can be processed.

Both of these solutions are not acceptable by Client.
