Goal

Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) now give their users some means of reporting unwanted email. This often takes the form of a "Report Spam" button or similar link appearing somewhere in the email client interface. By collecting user input, ISPs can adjust their spam filters, identify problem sources of email, and generally get a sense of what is upsetting their users. As an evolution of this process, many ISPs have created a process by which certain email senders may be able to receive notification when recipients report those emails as spam. To facilitate this, ISPs have created processes in which senders can register to receive those notices ("closing the loop").
