Goal
A Feedback Loop (FBL) is a service some ISPs offer to provide details on individuals who have marked a message as Spam/Junk. This is often done via the "Report Spam" button or similar link appearing somewhere in the email client interface. The ISPs that offer this service will then return to the sender a record of the complainer, which may contain details such as the email subject line, send date, recipient, etc. This record being received by the sender completes the loop and allows the sender to remove the complainer from their sends to prevent harassing the recipient and further complaints. Complaint Rates offer senders insight into how their communications are perceived and which are considered wanted or unwanted by the end recipients. It also allows insight into how ISPs may be treating their messages and if there is likely to be a junking issue impacting the sends for the specific ISP.
