What is the Difference between Close date and Effective Date in BI ?

How to know how well Sales Reps are performing with regards to the time it takes to close Opportunities?
Therefore, we needed the Expected Close Date, the Effective Date (date the opportunity was really closed) and the Opened Date (could be creation date).

How can one know how long it takes to close Opportunities?
