Formatted Text Within Product Hub Exposed With HTML Tags When Retrieved Via Web Service. (Doc ID 2244424.1)

Symptoms

 Business is centered around biological products. Therefore, product descriptions would need to contain text that involve characters that are italicized, bolded and also include superscripts and subscripts to display chemical formulae.   Data from within Oracle Fusion Product Hub are being exposed to the client’s middleware system through the use of the “findItem” and “updateItem” web service.

Product Hub displays the literal text for both Description (Name) and Long description (short description in PI). Therefore, when users want to super script an aspect of a name  the tags are written directly into those fields. This is being accepted by Product Hub.  The problem occurs when data is retrieved  from the “findItem” service.  Product Hub seems to half encode the text when retrieved. So a successful find item call returns the following in the payload:
 

 
Developers can not pull formatted text with HTML tags present to pass on to other systems such as their middleware or their public web site.  What are the options for pulling back the data without the HTML tags being presented for the formatted text ? Formatted descriptions would need to be held at Item, Description and EFF Levels.

 
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Use the following  soap request and notice the formatted description is returning HTML tags in the response Payload.
